At Pensak Houghton Dentistry in Calgary, we offer a non-invasive laser therapy called LAPT to treat periodontal (gum) disease.
What is Gum Disease?
Gum disease, often referred to as gingivitis in its early stages, is a condition where the gums become swollen, sore or infected. Gum disease can be treated with laser therapy in Calgary at our dental office.
Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy in Calgary
Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy (LAPT) is an advanced, non-surgical method for treating periodontal disease (or gum disease).
LAPT is very different from traditional methods of periodontal gum surgery that generally involve scalpels, stitches, and lots of bleeding.
By contrast, when being treated with the laser most patients experience little to no recovery time, minimal discomfort, and are even able to return to normal activities the very same day.
Benefits of LAPT
- Non-surgical therapy
- Minimal to no recovery time
- Reduced bleeding and inflammation
- Helps reduce bacteria and tightens up gums
- Comfortable visits
